PC Paul Pontain and PCSO Yvonne Thistlethwaite have been involved in the planning and promotion of the project. Paul explains why the project will be so important: “This Summer Kicks initiative is a way in which the Neighbourhood Policing Team in Hyndburn are looking to engage with our community in a positive way. We are looking to provide activities for young people aged between 11 and 17 years old so that this should prevent some of the antisocial behaviour we have encountered previously during the Summer holidays. We are looking forward to working in partnership with Accrington Stanley Community Trust again this Summer after success with the afternoon sessions last Summer. We are very fortunate to have a League One football team in our town who are willing to assist us in this initiative. We are hoping that moving the sports sessions to the evenings will help reduce the antisocial behaviour incidents further. We are also very grateful to Earl

Transport for providing funding for this initiative. As part of the ‘Summer Kicks’ initiative we will be inviting positive role models to speak to the children and this will hopefully be impactive to our young people.”
