MR Alan Richard Magrath sadly passed away on Friday, June 28.

He was the dearly loved husband of Nicki Magrath and a much-loved dad, grandad, brother, and friend. He will be greatly missed.

A funeral will be held at 3pm on Tuesday, July 16, at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

For donation details please contact Hyndburn Funeral Services, Oswaldtwis­tle, 336 Union Road, Oswaldtwis­tle. MR John Hughes, of Baxenden, passed away suddenly but peacefully with family by his side, on Thursday, July 4, aged 64.

After finishing school at The Holy Family, in Accrington, he began as an electrical apprentice at Blair Electrical in Church, where he worked for a couple of years before moving to Empress Electrical for a further four years. He then moved to begin work for David Nicholson for a further ten years and finally moved to Hyndburn Borough Council, where he worked on street lighting and also at the Sports Centre up to his early retirement, some years ago.

John liked to socialise with family and friends at Baxenden Social Club and The Dog and Partridge. He enjoyed gardening, pub quizzes, photograph­y, cycling and family holidays, both at home and abroad. He also liked to help others and would tinker about with friends’ cars and other tasks around their houses.

John was a very proud family man, always there to lend a helping hand and would always think outside the box.

He was the much-loved husband of Karen, devoted dad to Gemma and Abi, dad-in-law to Neil and Adam, and precious grandad pops to Stanley and Bump. John was also as very dear brother, brother-in-law, uncle and good friend to all who knew him.

His funeral service and committal will take place at 3pm on Wednesday, July 17, at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

Family flowers only please, but donations in lieu of flowers will be gratefully received for Macmillan Cancer Support - a charity very close to John’s Heart - c/o Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queens Road, Accrington. MRS Sheila Kelly, of Woodlands HFE, Warwick Avenue, Clayton-leMoors, died on Saturday, June 29, aged 88.

She had worked for Brooke Bond OXO prior to her retirement.

Sheila’s interests were her family to whom she was devoted and always there when needed. She will be sadly missed.

Beloved wife of the late Bill, she was the loving mother of John and his wife Denise, cherished grandma and best friend of Laura and husband Paul, Heather and husband Dougie, Josh and partner Chloe and Tara. She was also the precious great-grandma of Ellis and Isla, dearly loved auntie of Jean, Philip and Peter and a very dear friend to many.

A Requiem Mass will be held at 10.30am on Tuesday, July 16, at St Wulstan’s RC Church followed by committal at Accrington Crematoriu­m at 11.40am, administer­ed by Father Ian Farrall.

KATHLEEN BISCOMB

MRS Kathleen Biscomb, of Malvern Close, Accrington, sadly passed away suddenly at her home on Friday, July 5, aged 70.

She spent over 30 years of her career working for the Civil Service and previously worked for Emerson and Renwick Engineerin­g, retiring at age 60.

She enjoyed her home comforts, socialisin­g, shopping and keeping active, devoting her spare time to her husband, daughter and grandchild­ren.

Kathleen met Raymond at the Mecca in Blackpool who she had been married to for 48 years.

She was outgoing, bubbly and happy and was always on the go.

In her younger years she loved dancing, music and rock and roll and spent time in the Conservati­ve club and Jazz club in Accrington.

Kathleen will be very sadly missed by all of her family and friends.

The dearly-loved and devoted wife of Raymond, she was loved and doting mum of Lisa and motherin-law of Steven, wonderful and muchloved Nanna to Lilia and Harrison, daughter of the late Tom and Vera, cousin to Jean, Elsie and Valerie and also a very dear friend to many.
