Plans for 108 homes unveiled

PLANS have been unveiled for 108 new family homes in Hyndburn.
Countryside Properties PLC and Lancashire County Council have lodged an application with the council proposing to build a large new development on land off Ribblesdale Avenue, close to Accrington Cricket Club and Higham Playing Fields.
The site put forward for redevelopment is currently vacant and overgrown, but part of the site was previously used for household waste landfill.
The applicants say the 6.3 acre site was reclaimed
a number of years ago and earmarked for residential development, however this stalled due to market conditions.
If approved, the new estate will consist of 108 two, three and four bedroom detached and semidetached homes.
A planning statement sent to the council said: “The development at Ribblesdale Avenue, Accrington will provide an attractive, high quality designed area to live.
“The scale and character of the proposals will ensure that the scheme will contribute to and enhance the immediate and surrounding area.
“The proposals will also support the wider initiatives of the immediate area through the delivery of exceptionally high quality, family accommodation.
“The careful consideration of the structure, massing, streetscape, landscaping and materials ensures that the development is in context with the adjacent areas, creating an attractive, distinctive and aspirational scheme.”
Ward councillor Paul Cox said he is looking forward to examining the proposals in detail.
He said: “It sounds interesting and it would redevelop the site.
“We need to have a look at it and weight it up. We need to look at the site, the layout and the types of housing.”
A decision will be made by the council in the next few months.
