THE winners of a five-a-side football tournament feature in Looking Back this week.

Pictured above, the first Baxenden Scout Troop beat the first Clayton-leMoors group at Rhyddings Secondary Sports Hall in 1978.

They were among 10 borough groups competing for the Hyndburn Scout Trophy and each member of the winning team received a plaque.

The event was organised by Ken Smith, leader of St Augustine’s Huncoat and Doug Haworth, leader of Church Kirk and the beaten semi-finalists were the Stanley Troop and Church Kirk.

Spring came to Great Harwood Parish Infant School as pupils showed off the flowers they had grown at home.

Around 150 youngsters were given bulbs and brought them back to school four months later for the school’s annual bulb show.
