THE works of one of Europe’s foremost wildlife artists who sadly died last year will be celebrated in an exhibition to be staged at Accrington’s Haworth Art Gallery.

Passionate about wildlife and equally passionate about accurately interpreting her subjects, Pollyanna Pickering dedicated her life to environmental conservation.

Her original paintings have been exhibited at top galleries internationally including the Royal Academy, and hang in private collections worldwide - including that of the Queen.

Pickering was proud to be a patron of the Manchester Road gallery and to officially open their artist’s studios in a renovated sta

bles block. She also filmed an interview for the Splash of Paint TV show at the gallery.

The Painter of the Living World exhibition will showcase a retrospective of Pickering’s work, including paintings inspired by her travels to all seven continents, alongside artwork featuring her beloved British wildlife.

There will also be an opportunity to view a selection of Pickering’s working sketches and handwritten journals, as well as artefacts brought home from her expeditions.

The launch of this exhibition will be on Saturday, July 27 at noon with the Mayor and Mayoress of Hyndburn, Couns June Harrison and Joyce Plummer. In addition, there will be a series of family workshops led by artist Bee Daly inspired by Pickering’s work.
