Thief’s two-year shop ban

-

A PROLIFIC thief who assaulted two store workers has been jailed and banned from entering any Accrington town centre shop for two years.

Maxine Tattersall targeted a charity shop and five other stores over five months, stealing more than £235 worth of items.

The 32-year-old’s shoplifting spree started on December 31 last year when she stole boots worth £27.99 from Shoezone.

In January she targeted Sense Charity Shop stealing a pink radio and Adidas gift set, perfume and ladies razor blades from Boots and incense burners worth £24 from another shop.

The following month she returned to Boots stealing an unknown quantity of cosmetics before pinching men’s safety boots worth £24.99 from Shoezone.

Tattersall, of Church Street, Accrington, later stole sports powder belonging to Holland and Barrett worth £29.99 on March 5, 18 cans of Stella lager worth £10 from Asda on April 19 and two bottles of vodka and two bottles of wine worth £39.50 from Tesco on May 9.

Tattersall pleaded guilty at Blackburn Magistrates Court to 10 counts of theft and two counts of assault by beating against shop workers on February 2 and March 5.

At the time of the crime spree she was subject to a suspended prison sentence order from January 2018 for previous theft and shoplifting offences.

She was jailed for a total of 18 weeks and given a two-year criminal behaviour order (CBO).

Hyndburn Police said the CBO includes conditions ‘not to enter any retail premise within Accrington town centre’.
