Sex offender used aliases while going on dating sites

-

A CONVICTED sex offender who went on dating sites using aliases without telling the police has been jailed.

Anthony Perry, 36, was released from prison earlier this year following a 10-month sentence for child sex offences and made subject to a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO).

He was also ordered to comply with notification requirements in terms of possession of internet enabled devices and the use of any alias, a court heard.

Perry was visited by police in June at his bail hostel on Lydia Street in Accrington and was found to have breached the SHPO five times.

He had also failed to notify police about using the names ‘King Heart Queen’ and ‘Ant AKA Mr Brown’ on two adult dating websites.

Prosecutor David Clarke said officers seized a number of internet devices and sim cards, including Samsung phone, a Vodafone, an X-Box, a PS4 and an Alcatel mobile phone.

He told the court: “There was no contact with children [on the devices].

“They were only with adult females.

“It is not the most serious of breaches in themselves but clearly they were persistent breaches over a number of days with different items.

“It is a deliberate failure to comply with the requirements.”

Defence barrister Isobel Thomas said Perry forget to tell the police about the devices and there was ‘little or no harm or distress’.

She said: “There is no pre-sentence report.

“It is accepted by all parties that plainly the only sentence can be one of immediate custody.

“I do accept that given the number of items it may be view as a persistent breach.

“There is no suggestion of any contact with children on any of these devices.”

Ms Thomas said Perry apologised and said he was finding it difficult to be imprisoned again.

Judge Mark Brown said: “There may not have been direct contact with children but in the long run there may have been contact with children.

“He was in contact with mature women who could have had children.”

Judge Brown jailed Perry for 10 months.
