JEAN Jepson, a resident of Addison Court Nursing Home, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Monday, July 22, aged 84.

Jean was born in Blackburn to the late Mona and Edward Hope.

She was educated in Blackburn and after leaving school Jean went to work for Mullards.

Prior to her retirement she worked at Marks and Spencer, Blackburn.

Jean met her late husband Norman at Mullards, where they both worked. They married in 1958.

Following a honeymoon in Bournemout­h, they lived in and around Oswaldtwis­tle for their entire married life.

Jean was an active person, in her earlier years she liked to play tennis. She enjoyed visiting friends.

Jean and Norman liked to garden together and they both loved their dogs, a favourite walk would be through Sunnyhurst Woods. Holidays were always spent in Bournemout­h until Norman’s health meant this was no longer an option.

They had a static caravan at Thornton Cleveleys where they continued to spend time.

Jean leaves her brother Stewart, sister-in-law Alison, niece Helen and nephew John. She also leaves Helen’s partner Nathan and Sarah, John’s wife, great-nieces and nephew Isaac, Lauren, Amelie, Elodie, Larissa and Gabrielle.

The funeral was due to take place on Thursday, August 1, at Accrington Crematoriu­m, at 11am, followed by interment at Pleasingto­n Cemetery.

Officiatin­g will be Steven Colling CBE. Flowers are welcome.

JOHN HAWORTH

MR John Haworth, of Central Avenue, Oswaldtwis­tle, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 27, aged 80.

In his spare time John loved to care for his racing pigeons and was a member of the pigeon club.

He was also a member of St Mary’s Church, Oswaldtwis­tle. John also enjoyed taking touring holidays, especially around Ireland and took great pleasure in caravannin­g around Devon and Cornwall.

A dearly loving husband of Yvonne, a much loved father of Gary, John and Anthony and father-inlaw to Claire and Leanne, he was a treasured grandad to Sealey, J.J, Alivia and Connor and a dear brother of Michael and the late Pat and Helen.

John will be very sadly missed but fondly remembered by all.

His funeral service will be held at 10am on Wednesday, August 14, at St Mary’s RC Church, Oswaldtwis­tle, prior to interment at Dill Hall Cemetery.

KAROL GAJEWSKI

MR Karol Jozef Gajewski, died on Monday, July 29, aged 67.

He was a History teacher at Sandbach School, Cheshire.

Karol was a keen photograph­er, violinist and active member of St Joseph’s RC Church, Accrington.

Husband of Marion, he was father of Andrew and Catherine, father-in-law to Jack and grandfathe­r to Eloise and Susanna.

Requiem Mass will be held at St Joseph’s RC Church, Accrington, on Monday, August 12 at 10am, followed by a committal at Accrington Crematoriu­m officiated by Fr Stamp.

No flowers. Donations requested for Caritas, Diocese of Salford.

EDNA HOLT

MRS Edna Holt, of Lister Street, died on Thursday, July 25, aged 87.

She worked in bookkeepin­g as a clerk prior to retirement.

She enjoyed completing crosswords in her spare time.

Dearly-loved wife of the late Ronald and dearlylove­d sister of Gordon and the late Roy, she will be sadly missed by many.

A funeral will be held at 11.40am on Wednesday, August 7, at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

Family flowers only please, however donations, if desired, suggested to Cancer Research UK or Alzheimer’s Society.

Funeral director: Kirby and Hughes, 228 Blackburn Road, Accrington. MR Graham Gooding, of Union Road, Oswaldtwis­tle, passed away unexpected­ly on Tuesday, July 23, aged 75.

Born in Hull, Graham attended Cavendish Road Primary School and Jervis High School before working at Tugs, the Co-op Garage and AB Motors, in Hull.

After moving to Lancashire in 1986, Graham worked at Chequers Builders and then was a caretaker at All Saints Primary School in Clayton-le-Moors until his retirement.

Graham had lots of hobbies and interests and was an animal lover.

However, his first love was motorbikes.

He rode for 60 years and could either be found tinkering in his shed, polishing his bikes or enjoying being out on the open roads. He loved meeting up with his biker friends at Rivington Barn, Settle, Devil’s Bridge or Knott End to have a brew or an ice cream.

Graham also loved other outdoor pursuits such as fishing, cycling and also liked to fly his kites and model aeroplanes.

A dearly loving husband of Joan, a much loved father of Peter and Susan and also a devoted grandad of Fynn, Catherine, William, Seren and Edward, Graham will be very sadly missed by all his loving family and friends.

His funeral service will be held at 3pm on Monday, August 5, at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

THOMAS HUGHES

MR Thomas Joseph Hughes, of Bank Street, Church, died on Sunday, July 28, aged 76.

Tommy, as he was known, worked on many building projects across Belfast, England and Wales.

He worked for Leyland Motors, Scapa Mouldings and retired from Gaskills Carpets in 2001, due to ill health.

He was a real family man. Life revolved around them, and he enjoyed camping with them.

In his retirement he travelled to many places in Europe, America and Australia.

Tommy was devoted to his wife Rosealeen and cared for her at home until her death in 2011.

Tommy then enjoyed time on his canal boat and made many new friends.

He could often be seen walking his Jack Russell dog, Rocky, and was known for his beaming smile.

He was husband to the late Rosealeen, father to Paul, Maxine, Joann and Thomas, grandfathe­r to James, David, Paul, James, Mikey, Ryan, Callum, Ellie, Aaron and Andrew, great-grandfathe­r to Mason, and father-in-law to Linda, Walt, Ste and Steve.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 7, at 10am.

Requiem Mass will be held at St Anne’s RC Church, Accrington, followed by a burial at Dill Hall Cemetery, conducted by Father Stamp. Family flowers only. Donations to be confirmed.

BARBARA WATSON

ON behalf of our family we are sad to announce the passing of Barbara Watson (nee Rogers), a loving wife of 60 years to Frank Watson, who passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 23.

A celebratio­n of Barbara’s life, open to all who knew her, will be held at 2.30pm on Sunday, August 11 at Antley Methodist Church, Blackburn Road, Accrington.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Antley Methodist Church.
