MORE than 20 jobs are set to be created on a Hyndburn retail park with the opening of a new bespoke kitchen design company.

Wren Kitchens will join Harveys, Dream and Sofaworks at the Whitebirk site, off Junction 6 of the M65, after the completion of a 7,467-square foot store development.

Peel L&P, who operate the site, said the store will create an extra 22 jobs.

Bosses say the park has reported an 81 per cent increase in footfall numbers over the past two years, breaking through the one million visitor barrier in 2018.

Around £3 million has also been invested in that time on improved access and infrastructure, CCTV and LED lighting.

Roger Wheeldon, development director at Peel L&P, said: “The success story of Hyndburn Retail Park continues with the wonderful addition of Wren.

“The transformation of the park in recent years now complements local customers and their shopping needs including the addition of Aldi, B&M and Costa Coffee in recent times.

“We look forward to celebrating the open day with the Wren team.”

Wren Kitchens will open their latest showroom at Whitebirk later this month.

It will feature the latest smart kitchen technology and expert designers will also be on hand to help customers create their own ideal kitchen.

AN appeal over refused plans to turn a former newsagents into a takeaway has been thrown out.

Earlier this year, Hyndburn council planning committee members refused permission to convert the old newsagents on Plantation Street in Accrington into a takeaway restaurant.

But developers lodged an appeal with the Planning Inspectorate in a bid to get the decision overturned.
