Danielle Rigby: Very sad news. A strong woman of principal.

DIRECT bus from Accrington to Manchester scrapped after £300k loss (December 6):

Sierra Hodgson: I’m fuming about this. I use this regularly to see friends and family in Accrington. Just take off Ramsbottom and people will continue to use it. Stephen Daniels: Getting rid of monthly returns and the Sunday service being drastically cut years ago will have affected it too.

Kyle Corke: May as well just get train. The service was overpriced and took too long. No wonder it was losing money. Virginia Shand Ratcliffe: RIDICULOUS!!!! Since when did bus companies have the right to pick and choose only the most profitable routes?!! You are offering a service to the communities. The most profitable and the less profitable should come as a package. We love the X41 service. Janina Rewaj: Such a shame to lose this, it went downhill when it no longer left from Blackburn and the longer journey going through Ramsbottom. I know plenty of people who would still use this service if it was available. Bring back the old service. Christine Malpus: Very bad decision. It was the lengthening if the journey that made it unpopular in recent months. That service was always well used previously as it was more convenient than the train service which involved a change. Now it’ll be even harder for me to travel to see my family and involve me travelling further to somewhere I don’t know. Coming home at night will be quite literally a nightmare!

Gayle Rogan: So the 464 that my daughter used to use for school will be even more packed at busy times. Public transport is a joke in this country. Emma Wilkinson: It was popular before they changed the route. Then they changed it and people stopped using it cause it took so long. It’s a shame.

Michelle Maden: If it actually was a “direct” bus then more people world probably use it. It took long enough before it started going through Ramsbottom. Since then I’ve boycotted it and it sounds like I’m not the only one.

Carol Broadley: Yes totally agree Ramsbottom killed it. What are the public supposed to do now? It’s a joke. Bus companies can just do what they like.
