MR Frank Fielding, of Wellfield Care Home, Accrington, passed away on Sunday, December 8, aged 100.

Frank was born in Clayton-le-Moors and attended Mount Pleasant School.

He started work at Howard and Bulloughs, where he trained as a toolmaker.

He worked at GEC, then Allspeeds, from where he retired.

Frank was a gentleman to the end, loved by everyone and will be remembered for his smile and good manners.

Frank lived in Clayton all his life and was well known.

He was a boy soprano and sang at many places.

He played cricket for Accrington and Enfield, was a lifelong member of the Church of England and attended All Saints Church, Clayton-leMoors, until he was unable.

Husband of the late Ida for 62 years, he was a very dear father of Alan and

Ian and daughters-in-law Pat and Anne, and special grandpa to his five grandchild­ren and 12 great-grandchild­ren.

Frank was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.

The funeral service will take place at 1pm on Monday, December 23, at All Saints Church, Clayton-le-Moors followed by a committal at Accrington Crematoriu­m,

CATHERINE Gregson Bostock, of Rishton, passed away peacefully following a long illness and surrounded by her loving family on Friday, December 13, aged 70.

Known as Cathy, she was the much loved and loving mum of Lisa, Stella, Brian and the late Derek-Lee, dear motherin-law of Chris, a cherished nan, nana and great-nana, loved sister and sister-in-law and a good friend and relative to many.

Born in Greenock, Scotland, Cathy moved to Blackburn with her family.

Cathy was a truly devoted selfless family lady, she would always put others first and would give away her last penny to help anyone in need.

She was the most adoring mum, nana and great-nana and always made sure her children were treated fairly.

Cathy spent her working life as a mental health support worker at Calderston­es and with her hard working and caring ethos she was always a highly respected member of the team and made many friends.

She loved to travel and always looked forward to getting away for some rest and relaxation.

Cathy was an avid reader and also looked forward to settling in to her armchair to catch up with her favourite TV shows.

Flowers are welcome to the Chapel of Rest or donations can be made to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at St Charles RC Church, Rishton, at 12.15pm on Friday, December 27, followed by committal at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

TERRY FALLOWS

MR Terry Fallows, of Woodside Road, Accrington, passed away in Moorhead Rest Home on Saturday, December 7, aged 87.

He worked in management at Prestige Accrington and Burnley.

Terry was in the RAF Regiment and served in Korea and Egypt.

He loved cricket, football, boxing and playing pool, played cricket for Nelson Cricket Club and football in the Nelson League.

Father of the late Tony, Terry leaves his wife Patricia.

The funeral service and committal took place on Wednesday, December 18 at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

KENNETH KING

MR Kenneth James King, known as Ken, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December

11, at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital, due to COPD complicati­ons, aged 79.

He was a loving and devoted husband of 57 years to Anne, much loved father to Susan and

Alison, a dear father-inlaw to Paul and Alistair and a doting and loving grandfathe­r to Charlotte, Callum, Sarah and Reece.

Ken was a retired foreman from Huncoat Power Station and in his early retirement enjoyed spending time in their caravan in Shropshire with friends before his illness took hold.

He was a keen bowler and leaves many friends at Rishton Bowling Club.

The funeral was due to take place at 10.20am on Thursday, December 19, at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

MR Paul Andrew Grihault, known as ‘Biker

Paul’, of Accrington, passed away suddenly in hospital on Saturday, December 7, aged 57.

The much loved dad and best mate of Billy and Moss, he was the dearly loved son of Louis and Joyce, cherished grandad of Keira, Alisha, Chloe, Kinsley, Kate-Leigh, Lacie and Tyley-John, loved brother of Kaz, Dawn, Lynda and Andrew. Paul was also a much loved and respected relative and friend.

Paul’s funeral cortege will leave from Champ Funeral Services at 2pm on Monday, December

23.

He will be taken on his final ride through the town in a motorbike hearse.

Bikers are requested to join him on his final ride.

A celebratio­n of Paul’s life will take place at 3pm at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

BERNARD CATLOW

MR Bernard Catlow passed away on Wednesday, December 11, in his hundredth year.

He was husband of the late Margaret, father of the late Tony and brother of the late Mary, John and Alice.

He will be very sadly missed by all his family.

A Requiem Mass will be held at 10am on Friday, December 20, at St Mary’s

RC Church, Oswaldtwis­tle.

Family flowers only, donations to East Lancashire Hospice.

The family would like to thank Fr. S.D O’Brien and everyone who has shown friendship, kindness and care to Bernard.

PATRICIA DUXBURY

MRS Patricia Duxbury, of Hapton, passed away on Monday, December 16, aged 83.

She was a SRN nurse at Accrington Victoria Hospital.

Patricia was active in her local church, St John’s Church, and enjoyed knitting, cross-stitching and crocheting, and attending craft classes, and was a Eucharisti­c minister.

She leaves husband James Duxbury and children Michael, Anthony, Stephen, Bernadette, Philomena, Damian, Gabrielle, Dominic, Martin, Helen and Gregory.

A Requiem Mass will be held at 9.30am on Monday, December 23, at St John’s Church at Padiham, led by Fr Swift, followed by interment.

Donations if desired for individual charities.

VERA GARDNER

PEACEFULLY on Thursday, December 5, at Springhill Care Home, Vera, aged 95.

Loving wife of the late Richard, she was dear cousin to Alwyn and Alan, a much loved relative to Lindsay, Andrew, Karen Lauren, Stephen, Matthew and Robert, also friend to Karen, Kathy and Lois.

Vera was a loving, caring lady whose life was centred around her family and friends.

Vera enjoyed her work and held numerous office positions, although fond memories were made when she owned a newsagents on Nuttall Street in Accrington with her husband Richard and her cousins Alwyn and Alan.

Vera was a very sociable person and loved the company of friends and family, whether it be at home or on holiday travelling the world.

Vera was also known for her smart appearance and took great pride in the way she looked, she loved shopping for clothes and liked a bargain. Vera will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her.
