Students’ sell-out show

-

TALENTED Accrington Academy pupils wowed audiences with a sell-out Christmas Cabaret – performing a range of festive songs and carols.

The annual show, which invites students, parents, governors and local community guests, was entirely organised and run by the students.

It featured performances from 70 youngsters spanning Years 7 to 13, with musicians, dancers and actors all taking to the stage. The students’ abilities also extended to the vital backstage preparation and management. The ‘highly efficient and professional tech team’ took care of lighting and sound to ensure the whole performance ran smoothly on the night.

The finale saw all the students join each other on stage for a rousing rendition of Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas’.

Audience members were encouraged to get involved by voting for their favourite act via an online survey.

The best rated performance will represent the academy at the CHARM talent contest at Oswaldtwistle Civic Theatre in February.

Headteacher James Kerfoot said: “The Christmas Cabaret has been another fantastic showcase of our students’ work. From the performers on stage to the skilled technicians behind the scenes, all our young people have proved their talents and it was a pleasure to be able to share that with parents and our local community.

“While our students and staff are still working incredibly hard up until the end of term, the show was a very festive way to begin to celebrate another successful Autumn Term at our academy.”
