‘Kind and caring’ staff earn Rough Lee positive rating

-

A CARE home which caters for adults with physical disabilities has been given a clean bill of health by inspectors.

Rough Lee Home in Accrington received an unplanned visit from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in November and was given a ‘good’ rating in all five key areas.

The former maternity hospital building, based on Rough Lee Road, supports adults aged 18 to 65 and at the time of the inspection there were 15 people living in the home.

The CQC report said: “People told us they felt safe in the home and reassured by the care and support provided.

“People received care from staff who were trained and knowledgeable about their needs. People and their relatives said the staff were kind and caring. People’s equality needs had been fully considered, people told us they felt respected and cared for.

“We observed positive interactions in the home. The provider ensured people were able to maintain and develop their independence.

“People received person centred care which reflected their needs and wishes.”

Andrea Buckley, who has been a manager at the care home for more than 13 years, said she is ‘delighted’ at the rating.

She said: “It’s very well deserved. We have an excellent staff team who go above and beyond their remit, our care staff and maintenance have worked here for many years. We are a charitable organisation and we greatly appreciate donations and fund raising in order for us to continue the provision for extra facilities within our home.”
