ACCRINGTON Stanley ensured it was a happy send-off for striker Billy Kee after they defeated AFC Wimbledon at the Wham Stadium.

Goals from Jordan Clark and Dion Charles gave the Reds a 2-0 lead at the break, before they then had Joe Pritchard sent off on 55 minutes.

Joe Pigott pulled a goal back for Wimbledon with around 20 minutes to go, but 10-man Stanley were able to hold on to secure all three points.

Club legend Kee was also in attendance for the game, as he received a farewell from the club just a few days after announcing he would retire due to his battle with mental health.

Coleman was delighted to get the win against Wimbledon, but was less than impressed with the decision from the referee to send off Pritchard.

“Everyone is talking about the sending-off. I didn’t enjoy the game after that sending-off, not one bit,” said Coleman.

“If this was an isolated incident, I could understand. But I’m on the phone to Mike Jones (Referees Association) every Monday morning.

“In the last six games we’ve had eight major decisions go against us. We can’t be that unlucky, it’s physically impossible to be that unlucky.

“That’s the best win of the season for the manner it was won and for how we had to dig in. I have watched a lot of Wimbledon and I like the way they play.

“It’s so, so hard when you know you’re playing well to deal with the setbacks that we’ve had. But I can’t praise the lads enough. They showed a lot of character.” down under a challenge in the box from a Wimbledon defender.

Referee James Oldham deemed that Pritchard had dived and handed him a second yellow card, much to the frustration of manager Coleman.

Wimbledon were then able to make their extra man count when they pulled a goal back on 73 minutes.

Pigott was the man to get on it, heading home after getting on the end of a cross to reduce the deficit.

Despite late pressure from the visitors, the Accrington defence were able to hold on to secure the 2-1 victory at the Wham Stadium.

The result has left Accrington in 17th place in the League One table on 33 points, while Wimbledon are in 20th position on 28 points.
