Bobby back to recapture youthful joy
BOBBY Grant is determined to replicate some of the best moments of his professional career after re-joining Accrington Stanley.
The frontman has signed on loan from National League side Wrexham until the end of the season, having previously come through the youth ranks at the Reds before departing for then-Championship side Scunthorpe for £250,000.
Grant now heads back to the Wham Stadium, and the 29-year-old plans to enjoy this spell just as much as his initial stay.
“It’s ten years since I have been here permanently but I am buzzing, I just can’t wait to get started again,” he told the club’s official website.
“John (Coleman) and Jimmy (Bell) gave me my first chance in my career and I have stayed in touch with them since. When they asked me to come back it was a no-brainer and I would do anything for them.
“I had some of the best times of my career at Accrington when I was a young lad, I loved my time here and I have the biggest smile on my face that this has happened.
“I know I have to prove myself, I have been playing in the National League, and I know I have to come back and show what I can do and try and get in the team.
“Accrington have been very successful over the last few years especially and I will have to earn the right to be in the team but I know I can create and score goals at this level, I have done it before.
“I want to help the team be successful, I am only 29 and I have loads left to give.
“I know Sean McConville from my first time at
Accrington, I have played against Mark Hughes a lot and know he is a scouser and I played with Jordan Clark at Shrewsbury, so I know a few of the lads. It’s just a great chance for me to play back in the league and play for a club I love and for a manager I know well. I am absolutely buzzing.”
Manager John Coleman added: “We know what Bobby is all about, we know what we are getting with him and we know he will work his socks off for us to help us win games and keep us in League One.
“He knows how me and Jimmy (Bell) operate and he will be prepared to run through brick walls for us.”
