TRIBUTES to talented Accrington high school teacher Ian Alveston (February 8):

Catherine O’ Connor: My art teacher at St. Hilda’s in Burnley, his nickname was ‘groovy Al’. Andrea Alltatters: I was about five when I met Ian when he and his wife came to visit my parents.

I still treasure the copy of Hans Christian Anderson fairy-tales they bought me one Christmas.

I do remember they were a bit different, almost magical. RIP Ian. John Black: My form teacher at St. Theodores in Burnley ahead of his time and a modern trendy dude who I held in high regards one of the lasting good memories of my long ago education RIP and God bless.

WARNING from police over anti-social behaviour in Clayton-leMoors (February 8):

Martin Hanratty: Try reopening the Youth Centre on Moore Street - giving young people places to go and things to do.

Dispersal orders have been tried in other areas of Hyndburn e.g. Oswaldtwistle - just moves the issues to another part of the town.

We once had a successful Youth Service across Hyndburn until the centres were closed three years ago - notice the park is in the dispersal zone.
