St Paul’s celebrating glowing SIAMS report

-

APRIMARY is celebrating after being judged ‘Excellent’ in all areas in a church school inspection.

Oswaldtwistle St Paul’s CE Primary School received its SIAMS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) visit in January.

Inspector Ann Aspden graded the Union Road school, which has 146 pupils on the roll, as Excellent overall, and also in the sub-categories of ‘impact of collective worship’ and ‘ the effectiveness of religious education’.

Her glowing report states: “Pupils, many of whom are disadvantaged, make extremely good progress from their starting points because leaders have successfully reduced barriers to learning. This can be seen in the impact of the work of the family support worker and the learning mentor in improving achievement, attendance and parental engagement.

“They work relentlessly to ensure that their work reflects the school’s vision and its firm commitment to forgiveness and reconciliation. Pupils exemplify the Christian vision in their actions. An impressive range of excellent opportunities provides a framework for pupils to make a positive impact in their community and beyond.”

Acting headteacher Gina Smith said: “We are extremely proud to have received official recognition from the Church of England that we are an excellent school and we would like to thank everyone who has been involved in making our school the amazing place that it has become, and especially well done to our pupils who make St Paul’s a community we are all proud of!”
