Mayor has a ball on her ‘fantastic’ night

THE Mayor of Hyndburn has thanked all who attended her Mayors Ball.

More 180 guests attended the biggest Mayoral fundraisin­g event of the year at Accrington Town Hall last Friday, raising funds for Coun June Harrison’s Mayoral Charities Play4UZ2, Derian.

House Children’s Hospice, North West Air Ambulance and Macmillan Cancer Support, as well as Clayton Amateur Boxing Club.

Mayor Coun Harrison said it was “a fantastic night”.

She added: “The entertainm­ent was wonderful, the food and the company were superb and of course BBC Radio Lancashire’s Stephen Lowe hosted the whole thing brilliantl­y. Thanks so much to everyone who came along and help to raise lots of money for my Mayoral Charities and Clayton Amateur Boxing Club.”

She added: “We’re still waiting for the final figure, which we’ll publish as soon as we can, but we know already it’s raised thousands. People are so kind and generous and this money will make a huge difference to many people here in Hyndburn.”

Hyndburn council leader Coun Miles Parkinson OBE, was part of the organising committee for the Ball.

He said: “It really was a fabulous evening.

“A sparkling black tie event, with a great atmosphere, in the spectacula­r surroundin­gs of the magnificen­t Accrington Town Hall ballroom.

“Everyone enjoyed it immensely and of course, most importantl­y, lots of money was raised for these local worthy causes.

“A big thanks to everyone for your support.”
