Nurse’s shock as car tyre is slashed outside home

-

A STUDENT nurse was left shocked after her car tyre was ‘slashed’ outside her home.

Megan Storey, 20, discovered the flat tyre on Friday, April 24 after being parked on Stanley Street, Oswaldtwistle overnight and was shocked to be told that the tyre had been ‘slashed’.

After being advised that the tyre had been damaged intentionally, Megan, reviewed CCTV footage, which shows four people walking past the car, with one getting close to the tyre of the vehicle before walking off.

Megan, who is a student nurse at UCLan and opted to help with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, says she needs her car for work and has had to pay for the repair.

She has recently finished a placement at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, and is set to start a new placement next week.

The student added: “Seeing the CCTV initially left me feeling shocked, upset and angry as being a nursing student during this pandemic has put everything into perspective and you’d expect everyone to pull together but unfortunately you get those few who don’t.

“I was also upset that I had to pay for a new tyre as a result of this thoughtless and thuggish action.

“Luckily the individual who came out to fix it ocked sourced and fitted the tyre and only charged me for the price of the tyre due to the situation, costing me £40 in total, which was a lovely gesture.”

The tyre incident has now been reported to Lancashire Police who we have approached for comment.
