Ram raids on three firms could be linked

-

POLICE are treating a series of ram-raids as linked, it has been confirmed.

Three incidents occurred at business premises across the borough over the past week, resulting in police being called out.

The first incident happened on Monday, May 18 when police were called at around 6.30am to Jewson building merchants on Hyndburn Road, Accrington following reports of an attempted burglary.

On police arrival, the offender or offenders left empty-handed.

Then, on Saturday, May 23, police were called again shortly before midnight to a garage on Harvey Street, Oswaldtwistle.

There were reports a car had rammed the door of the premises. It then made off from the scene, but police say it’s unclear if anything was stolen.

On Sunday, May 24, officers were called again to reports of an attempted burglary at Jewson building merchants.

A car had rammed the doors off the building, before the offender or offenders made off on foot - but nothing was stolen.

A police appeal is now underway.

A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: “We were called shortly before midnight on Sunday, May 24, to reports of an attempted burglary at a business premises on Hyndburn Road, Accrington.
