CORONAVIRUS STATEMENT
JOINT statement: Coun Miles Parkinson, leader of Hyndburn Borough Council, Coun Marlene Haworth, leader of the opposition and Sara Britcliffe, MP for Haslingden and Hyndburn
RECENTLY the new strategy outlined by Central Government set out a roadmap to easing the existing lockdown measured in a safe way.
The first step of these measures easing was to allow unlimited outdoor exercise and leisure time, whilst maintaining strict social distancing.
We would like to thank Hyndburn residents for following guidelines and continuing to act responsibly. Our message is still to stay at home as much as possible and take exercise locally when you can.
Hyndburn has wonderful outdoor space and we are fortunate to have many areas of natural beauty on our doorstep.
We are aware that alongside the threat of
Covid-19 our residents are also facing difficulties with other aspects of wellbeing.
Our number one priority is the safety and health of our community.
Together we have been working hard to harness the existing community groups and organisations in Hyndburn, ensuring all residents have access to support should they need it.
The Hyndburn Hub now has over 40 organisations under its umbrella and has evolved over the last two months to offer much more than emergency food supplies.
The Hub can provide support and advice with all aspects of challenges people are facing including housing, mental health and bereavement.
Through this centralised approach we are able to understand the difficulties of Hyndburn residents during this unprecedented time and make sure the correct provisions are in place for support.
The threat of coronavirus (Covid-19) has not gone and we echo the message of staying alert to this threat.
It is essential that people continue to follow guidelines and stay informed regarding any upcoming changes as our nation progresses along the roadmap to recovery.
The current guidance states that if you do need to leave your house stay two metres apart from other people and you must not invite others to your house or visit other households.
People are encouraged to wear face coverings when using public transport or entering enclosed public spaces, such as a supermarket.
This must be adhered to until instructed otherwise whilst we move into phase 2 of recovery.
Help is available if you need it, please do not suffer alone.
Our Hyndburn Hub is working seven days a week to provide essential support, if you or someone you know are in urgent need of assistance please do reach out.
