Comedy drama raises vital cash

-

GENDER stereotypes are brought headlong into the modern world by a drama group’s special online fundraising play.

Drama fans can tune in from the comfort of their own homes to ‘Bryan, The Snitch and the Technophobes”, in exchange for a vital donation to Accrington charity Lancashire Women.

Lancashire Women Players have performed a special online version of another comedy drama exploring the gender stereotypes of a Women’s Centre and a Working Men’s Club.

The scene is set as local residents attend a council meeting over ‘Zoom’ technology; the men are feminist-fearing fellows, headed by the chairman with his regulars who always back him up.

Moya O’Hagan, commercial lead, director, writer and leading actress in the play, said it was “great fun to write”.

She added: “We hope it brings a smile to people’s faces, young and old as they sit back and laugh at this brilliant comedy drama. We are very dramatic and promise you will really use your chuckle muscles!”

Lancashire Women

Players formed almost five years ago and this play is the fourth in the series.

One of their goals is to support the Lancashire Women charity and fundraise on their behalf.

The charity, whose head office is on Blackburn Road, Accrington, needs support more than ever now with most of its fundraising events suspended due to Covid-19.
