£4m campus in final phase

-

AN overhaul of the learning experience for students working on career trades is on the horizon, as Accrington and Rossendale College begins the final phase of its £4m campus transformation.

New green space in the form of wildflower meadows with flora and fauna is now almost complete, acting as a backdrop for improved access to the college, making it easier to get around.

A new main entrance to the campus has also been created as a gateway to the college, off Sandy Lane, Accrington.

This final phase of the transformation includes an employer hub in the Construction and Automotive Centre, which the college is hoping will give students a leg-up into the world of work.

Meanwhile, the building is set for a “complete overhaul, improving the learning experience of students” who are studying Auto Electrics and Vehicle Technician courses, as well as those studying career trades including Brickwork, Carpentry and Joinery, Construction and Civil Engineering, Painting and

Decorating, and

Plastering courses.

Amanda Melton, principal of Nelson and Colne College Group, said: “We’ve made outstanding progress at Accrington and Rossendale College in the 18 months since we became a merged institution.

“Our focus has always been to invest in our College facilities to ensure that they are fit to develop the skills of talented young people for years to come, and we are well down the road towards achieving this.”
