A joint statement from Cllr Miles Parkinson, Leader of Hyndburn Council, Cllr Marlene Haworth, Leader of the Opposition and Sara Britcliffe, MP for Hyndburn and Haslingden

OVER the last few weeks we have seen the reopening of many shops on Hyndburn’s High Streets.

It is thanks to the efforts from business owners and residents that this has been a great success, with shoppers enjoying the many local offerings.

People have pulled together to support these businesses and joined forces under the #ThinkHyndburn campaign - shopping safely and securely.

On July 4 more businesses and venues will be permitted to open, providing they can do so safely. This includes hair salons, barbers, libraries, community centres, restaurants, café’s, pubs, bars and places of worship.

On the Hyndburn Borough Council website business owners can access guidance and information for reopening to make sure they are ‘covid secure’.

By working together as a community through this global pandemic our economy can recover, and jobs will be saved. We will see the phased reopening of more businesses and venues as the spread of Coronavirus is slowed.

Through continued good hand hygiene, social distancing and wearing masks in enclosed public places our community will begin to move towards a ‘new normal’.

The guidance for our ‘clinically extremely vulnerable’ residents is also changing and gov.uk will publish this new advice on July 6. To ensure this new guidance is understood and relayed to those impacted we are asking that friends, family and neighbours look out for one another and share the information.

Isolation and lockdown has been incredibly difficult for many people and it is important that as a community we check in on each other, especially those who are elderly or vulnerable.

When the time comes for people to venture back into our townships, we need to support each other in doing so safely.
