Girls are United to reach their £7,000 charity goal

-

A HYNDBURN schoolgirl has helped Manchester United Girls’ Regional Talent Club’s Under 11 Squad raise thousands of pounds for charity.

The talented team of footballers collectively ran, cycled or walked 464 miles in two weeks, raising more than £7,000 for their beloved coach Emma Fletcher, who has inherited the life-altering and fatal illness, Huntington’s disease.

Among them was midfielder and All Saints’ Primary pupil Katie Prysiaznyj, of Spring Meadows, Clayton-leMoors. Katie is the daughter of Jennifer and David and also has an older sister, Amy.

Captain Dixie Thirde, from Rossendale, said she and her teammates really enjoyed the challenge, although it was “very tough”.

She said: “All of the team enjoyed meeting up in small groups and running with Emma and some of her family and friends. It’s been an incredible two weeks and without the support of Emma, our families, friends and lots of people that we don’t even know, then this wouldn’t have been possible. A huge thank you to everybody!”
