Former player’s cricket club gift

A TALENTED sportsman who passed away last year has left a £1,000 gift in his will to his beloved cricket club.

Ronald Power made the bequest to Church and Oswaldtwis­tle Cricket

Club following his death in June 2019, aged 88.

His stepson Alan Richardson confirmed the transactio­n has been completed this week in line with Ronnie’s wishes.

Ronnie, from Church, played 96 times for the club’s first team between 1948 and 1964 and was a long-standing supporter.

A former paper shop owner and foreman engineer at All Speeds, he was also steward and treasurer of the Poplar Social Club and two-time winner of the Observer Cup snooker tournament in the 1970s.
