Former player’s cricket club gift
A TALENTED sportsman who passed away last year has left a £1,000 gift in his will to his beloved cricket club.
Ronald Power made the bequest to Church and Oswaldtwistle Cricket
Club following his death in June 2019, aged 88.
His stepson Alan Richardson confirmed the transaction has been completed this week in line with Ronnie’s wishes.
Ronnie, from Church, played 96 times for the club’s first team between 1948 and 1964 and was a long-standing supporter.
A former paper shop owner and foreman engineer at All Speeds, he was also steward and treasurer of the Poplar Social Club and two-time winner of the Observer Cup snooker tournament in the 1970s.
