Two injured as car leaves road

TWO people were injured - one seriously - in a collision on Grane Road, Belthorn which saw the air ambulance among the emergency response.

A car left the road at around 7.55pm on Sunday, July 5 near to the Grey Mare pub.

It is thought that only one vehicle was involved.

Police confirmed neither casualty sustained life-threatenin­g injuries and no arrests were made.

North West Ambulance Service sent two ambulance vehicles, an air ambulance and an advanced paramedic. A spokespers­on said: “We treated two male patients; we took one patient to Royal Preston Hospital with major trauma injuries via air ambulance. We took the other patient with arm injuries to Royal Blackburn Hospital.”

The ambulance service confirmed the major trauma patient suffered a serious leg injury.

The road reopened shortly after 9.30pm.
