AFAMILY-RUN life insurance company has helped a woman receive a payout for critical illness, after fears her policy might exclude her from the desperately needed cashflow.

Mother-of-three Sara Regan, from Oswaldtwistle, took out a life insurance policy in December 2018 for herself and husband, Danny, 46.

Due to a relative’s illness, Sara believed that her policy excluded her from a payout if she was diagnosed with ovarian or breast cancer.

Sadly, Sara then received a breast cancer diagnosis in March this year.

However, she had taken a policy out through Cover my Bubble, set up by Emma and Chris Astley, from Oswaldtwistle. The couple tragically lost their one-month-old daughter, Lillie-Beth, in 2006. The tot was born prematurely and died following complications.

Unable to work, Chris and Emma struggled to even have the cash to put petrol in their car, and realised the importance of life insurance, prompting them to set up Cover my Bubble in 2018, inspired by the loss of Lillie-Beth.

After her diagnosis, Sara, 44, discovered that her relative had not actually had breast cancer, meaning her exclusion should be lifted.

Thanks to Emma pursuing the issue, Sara was granted a £13,000 payout to support her through this difficult time.

Sara said: “I manage the centre where Cover my Bubble has their offices so I took out my life insurance policy with them.

“My husband and I are both in our forties so a bit too expensive but Emma encouraged me.

“She found a policy for us that was in our budget. It was in place when I received my cancer diagnosis.

“Emma has been absolutely amazing. She did everything she possibly could, and followed everything up.”

Sara is now awaiting chemotherapy, and is “positive” about her diagnosis.

Emma added: “This is going to make a massive difference to the family, due to the ongoing chemotherapy needed, both her hubby and son have to isolate due to covid while she has treatment over the next six months.

“This means that all three people are on sick pay and money is very tight.

“This payout will make a massive difference to this family and I also believe, will make such a difference to our client making her treatment easier without the financial stresses too.

“We wish the client all the best and will continue to support her along her journey, we have become good friends and it was so rewarding helping her receive her critical illness payment.

“I love my job. It’s so important for clients to have the right information when disclosing medical information or family history as it can affect your policy.

“We continue to raise awareness of our story and experiences to help as many families as possible.”
