A joint statement from Coun Miles Parkinson, Leader of Hyndburn Council, Coun Marlene Haworth, Leader of the Opposition, and Sara Britcliffe, MP for Hyndburn and Haslingden

WE are united in our message urging people in Hyndburn to help with reducing the spread of coronavirus.

A slight increase in the number of people testing positive for Covid-19 in our borough, plus our proximity to areas with higher transmission rate, means we all need to be alert.

Our message is ‘Let’s do it for Hyndburn’ and work together to keep our community safe.

As more businesses such as sports centres, gyms and beauty salons open their doors we are urging people to use these businesses safely and follow government guidance at all times.

It is now more important than ever that we follow social distancing, good hand hygiene and wear a face covering in enclosed public spaces if you are able to.

NHS Test and Trace are working hard to contact anyone who has been in close proximity with a person who has confirmed Covid-19.

If you are contacted by Test and Trace it is very important you follow their instructions and selfisolate.

To support NHS Test and Trace you may also be asked for you name and contact details when visiting public places or venues.

Through these actions we can protect family, friends and work colleagues.

We can also protect businesses and keep our local economy open if everyone follows the rules.

It is key that anyone with symptoms of the virus gets a test. If you live with someone with symptoms, you must also self-isolate for 14 days from the day their symptoms started, as it can take 14 days for symptoms to appear.

In this quick changing situation please follow Hyndburn Borough Council’s website and social media channels for news and alerts.

If you see new information please share, let your friends, family and neighbours know so we can reach as many people as possible.

Our Hyndburn Hub remains open and active for those who need urgent support.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you, or someone you know, is suffering and please let others know help is available.

Providing essential and urgent support, the Hyndburn Hub can be contacted seven days a week.

To help the team get back to you as quickly as possible please email in the first instance: enquiries@hyndburnbc. gov.uk visit Hyndburn council’s website, or call 01254 388111.
