TWO St Christopher’s students were overjoyed after obtaining grades to make it to Oxbridge.
Olivia O’Neill is going on to Oxford University after her three A*s.
She said: “This past few months have been very challenging and I can’t believe I got what I needed for Oxford University. It’s fantastic!”
Also celebrating is Joseph Philbrook, who got an A*, an A and a B, just what he needed to study Archaeology at Cambridge University.
He said: “I’m over the moon to get into Cambridge to study Archaeology. Thank you to all the staff over the last two years for their support.”
A SPORT and Sport Sciences student is seeing stars – three of them in fact – after gaining Triple Distinction* in her BTEC qualification.
Fitness fanatic Ellie Armstrong, 18, from Accrington, netted the highest grade she could achieve during her time at Accrington & Rossendale College, where she has shown dedication and commitment to her studies. She also has a part time job at the college’s sports centre, where she is a fitness instructor.
Ellie, formerly of The Hollins, said: “My results are great and the qualification will enable me to gain an even deeper and more accurate understanding of the subject through my BSc Sports Science and Coaching degree at Accrington and Rossendale College.
“The college was always going to be my first choice for Higher Education and I’m happy to progress.
“My career goal is to have my own fitness business, which offers both one to one personal training sessions and group community classes.
“I would also love to take my fitness experience into schools.”
ISAAC Bradshaw, formerly of The Hollins, has completed his Auto Electrics qualification at Accrington and Rossendale College and has secured employment at ADS Automotive, in Preston.
Isaac, 18, said: “I’ve enjoyed college – I’ve really pushed myself and I have been given great opportunities here.
“My tutors have been friendly and supportive. I am working towards becoming a confident and knowledgeable technician.”
JOSH Dodding, 18, from Great Harwood, is hoping to be a future star of stage and screen after getting accepted to study Musical Theatre at Royal Central School for Speech and Drama in London.
Josh, of Westholme School, received an ABB in his A-Levels in music, theatre, and classics.
“It’s something I have always wanted to do,” he said.
“Central was my first choice and I’m over the moon I have got in. I’m hoping it will lead to a career on stage or on screen.”
Josh has been involved in every school theatre performance he could and last year played the male lead of Billy Flint in the musical Chicago.
Results were received before Monday’s government statement on grade revisions. Some students nationwide may receive higher grades.
