Coun June Harrison

- Mayor of Hyndburn

LIKE us all I’m sad to see that the numbers of Coronavirus cases are on the rise again locally, but know that once again we must all play our part to combat the spread of this terrible disease, by following the new enhanced measures for Hyndburn announced by the Government on September 22.

I know this will mean more sacrifices for many here in the borough, but the measures are vital to help keep our loved ones and the wider community safe and, of course, that is what we all want. Have a look at the Council’s website for the full guidance, there are also lots of frequently asked questions about the new rules too, see www. hyndburnbc.gov.uk .

As well as the new measures, the basic messages remain the same; wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water, avoid touching your face, social distance from those not in your household or bubble, wear a mask in public places (unless you are exempt), and participate in the test and trace service, downloading the new app if you can.

I understand the prospect of being asked to isolate may be worrying. I’d like to reassure you that the fantastic Hyndburn Hub is open and available for anyone in urgent need. It is here to support those who have to isolate or maybe become unwell and cannot get supplies such as food or medicine. Providing essential and urgent support, the Hyndburn

Hub can be contacted seven days a week. You can get in touch via enquiries@ hyndburnbc.gov.uk visit Hyndburn Council’s website, or call 01254 388111.

Finally, please keep on supporting our fabulous local businesses. You can buy everything you need right here in the borough and by doing this we’re helping Hyndburn businesses and the economy, so please #ThinkHyndburn and support local businesses as much as you can.
