MR Jack Morris, formerly of Albert Street, Oswaldtwis­tle, passed away peacefully in hospital on Wednesday, September 23, aged 84.

After serving in Her Majesty’s Royal Navy, Jack had numerous jobs, including working as a fitter in local firms, as well as working in South Africa for a time.

He was then employed again as a fitter at BTP

GILLIAN YOUNG

ON Saturday, September 26, peacefully at her home, Gillian Young, nee Lovegrove, aged 78, of Great Harwood, formerly of Pontypridd, South Wales.

The dearly loved wife of the late Alf and loving partner of Dave, much loved mum of Carlton and Victoria, dear mother-inlaw of Alison and Nigel, and loving grandma of Chelsea, Jessica and Tyler-John.

Gillian was born in Pontypridd, South Wales and always remained true to her Welsh roots.

She was always rather pleased that she went to school with Tom Jones.

Gillian met her first husband Alf whilst she was a nurse, and combining their love of

Girl Guides and Scouts; both Gillian and Alf became very dedicated to their work with the Scout Associatio­n.

This brought them to live in Great Harwood, putting Bowley Scout Camp on the map.

Gillian was passionate and dynamic and had a great capacity for getting things done.

She also worked as a doctors receptioni­st at Great Harwood Health Centre, becoming the practice manager.

In her spare time she was a keen dog breeder and was well known and respected in the dog world, especially as a breed judge at many shows, including Crufts.

Becoming a widow, Gillian later met Dave through her dog walking routine, and their friendship blossomed.

Together they shared a great love of their dogs and enjoyed holidays touring in their motorhome all over Britain, especially back to her beloved Wales. She also enjoyed digital photograph­y, watercolou­r painting and music.

Gillian was the proudest grandma there ever was and she adored her family, of whom she was always so proud.

Due to current restrictio­ns a private family funeral service will be held at Accrington Crematoriu­m. For those unable to attend, the service will be live streamed.
