Pub one of most ‘at risk’ music venues
AMUSIC venue and pub is one of the most at risk in the country of closing its doors for good due to the Covid19 pandemic.
The Arden Inn has been highlighted by the Music Venue Trust (MVT) as one of the 30 most at risk in the United Kingdom, with vital funds needed to keep the place afloat until the good times can return to the Abbey Street venue.
“Our music venue risks permanently losing our live music,” bosses at the pub have said.
“Most of our income is taken when we have live bands on, and if we are not allowed then we will finding hard to pay the bills.
“Your donations will be used to keep us afloat until there comes a time where we can once again pack the place out and help talent show off to you what they are good at.”
The venue has teamed up with the MVT and Crowdfunder to launch vital fundraisers for the Arden Inn and the 29 other venues most at risk in the country.
Arden Inn bosses added: “By donating you will help save the music scene in your area and others, local talent may never get a break if its not for places like The Arden Inn.
“Remember all the great bands that have played at The Arden in the past seven years, how much enjoyment you have had?
“Remember all the Xmas parties we have had in July raising cash for charity and all the summer parties in December?
“Plus all the great laughs we have all shared?
“We all want those times back.”
Currently, more than £1,000 has been raised for the Arden Inn, with a target of £20,000 needing to be met by December 8.
Those donating will receive mechanise from the Music Venue Trust in return for their cash, including Covid-19 face masks, T-shirts, and black knit hats.
The MVT has categorised venues by a ‘traffic light’ system, with 30 in the red zone and in imminent danger of permanent closure.
The MVT says: “These grassroots venues play a crucial role in the development of British music, nurturing local talent, providing a platform for artists to build their careers and develop their music and their performance skills.
“These venues also play a vital role in the cultural and economic vibrancy of any village, town or city.”
