WELL everyone what a year it has been, this pandemic has affected in some way every person in the country, some way more than others.

Here in Hyndburn we have had to suffer two lockdowns as well as tier three restrictions but I must say you should all feel so proud of yourselves. I know how proud I am to live here in Hyndburn and see how all residents have come together, helping each other, sharing what they have with each other and going that extra mile.

We are so lucky to have the wonderful volunteers we have who have worked round the clock and the work they have all done is truly remarkable.

Thanks also to all council staff who have kept the borough running smoothly, all the front-line workers and the unbelievable N.H.S

The Christmas season is now with us and I feel confident that you will all bear in mind the trace, face and space as hard as it will be, in this quick changing environment.

It is important to stay informed of the current guidelines and measures in Hyndburn. Talk to your friends, family and neighbours to make sure you know what restrictions are in place, you can also check on the website gov. uk .

If you have any symptoms of COVID-19 please don’t hesitate to get tested. You can do this by calling 119 or visiting nhs. uk. You only need to have one symptom to get a test, high temperature, continuous cough or change in your sense of smell or taste.

With a vaccine on the way it hopefully will soon end and we can all return to some sort of normality.

On a personal note and on behalf of the Conservative group I would like to wish you all a peaceful and safe Christmas and new year.
