ST PAUL’S CHURCH OF ENGLAND PRIMARY SCHOOL

-

THE villain AKA ‘Evil Pea’ has once again returned to cause trouble and mischief here at St Paul’s.

Reception class children have been working hard all week to try to capture this green menace.

Evil Pea has not only caused havoc in the Reception classroom by freezing equipment but he has also captured Mrs Smith the headteacher and tried to send her away disguised as a parcel!

The children made wanted posters and yesterday after spending the week causing much troubled mischief ‘Evil Pea’ was finally caught as Mrs Smith splattered him!

The children all gave six cheers to celebrate as they had been learning about the number six in the maths lesson.

Well done Reception Class for getting rid of this nuisance pea and saving St Paul’s!

We may not be able to gather as a whole school at the moment to think about the many sacrifices that soldiers, both past and present, have made for us all so that we may enjoy our freedom.

However, we remembered together at 11am on November 11.

We used our broadcast to ensure that as a whole school we stopped and observed two minutes’ silence.

In preparation for this year’s Remembrance Day, the children have been making, decorating and writing personal prayers of thanks and hope on their own poppies.

These poppies are now displayed in our school reception area.

The children and staff wanted to ensure that as a school community we were still able to create and display work from every class and we are very proud of this display.

We are also continuing to support the fundraising efforts of the Royal British Legion this year through the sale of a number of poppy related items.

These can be purchased every day in your child’s class and must be paid for in advance via ParentPay to ensure school can remain Covid secure.

On Wednesday afternoon, Year 6 fully enjoyed their ‘Playground Leaders’ training, planning and practising activities which they can hopefully carry out with the KS1 children in the future.

The children said: “We enjoyed it because it taught us how to positively lead younger children and improve skills.” Well done Year 6! In order to celebrate National Skipping Day, the children participated in some physical activity for a minimum of 30 minutes.

Working with children from their class bubbles, they took part in team games to work collaboratively and then they practised their individual skipping techniques.

The Year 2 children visited our local war memorial as part of their history topic this half term.

Whilst there, they laid a remembrance wreath and said prayers for the fallen soldiers.

Year 5 have been visited this week by Ebenezer Scrooge.

He came to talk to the children so that they could learn more about his character and also discover why he is so nasty!
