AONE-OFF Christmas magazine has been produced by #Amazing A cc ring ton showcasing the local shops around Hyndburn. It was delivered to all 36,406 households in Hyndburn.

The festive edition will aim to encourage and remind residents of how many wonderful and unique shops there are in the area.

It is hoped the magazine will help the local economy to withstand the longer effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and its restrictions.

The magazine will focus on shops in Accrington centre and the markets, Oswaldtwistle, Great Harwood, Rishton, Claytonle-Moors, Baxenden, Church, Altham, Huncoat, and Belthorn.

A gift guide will also be included to show a selection of items ranging from a pineapple at £1.60 to a Lister car at £129,950.

Murray Dawson, chairman of# Amazing A cc rington, said: “I’m immensely proud of all the content generated by my team over the last six months.

“It’s been so enjoyable speaking to all the different business owners and being able to showcase all the wonderful things on offer in Hyndburn.

“Let’s use this time to really boost Hyndburn.

“If all our 80,000 residents in Hyndburn just spent an extra £5 weekly in local shops, that would be an extra £400,000 a week kept directly within our borough, helping keep us financially secure for the future.”

Hyndburn MP Sara Britcliffe was part of the initial plan to support the high street through the initiative and reiterated the importance to the local economy of shopping locally.

As well as the guide there is a living in lockdown feature with David ‘Bumble’ Lloyd, an A-Z poem by actress Julie Hesmondhalgh and a history article on the spinning jenny.

QR codes will also be on the pages so readers can watch accompanying videos on their phone.

Hyndburn Council leader Miles Parkinson OBE, said: “At times like these our communities come together to support each other.

“This marketing initiative, by combining both print and digital products with innovative videos, will bring the high street offering to everyone and remind us just what we have on offer locally!”

The AmazingAccrington events calendar will return for 2021 with a brand new line-up of exciting events having been announced throughout the year.

Despite having proved popular in 2019, the coronavirus pandemic meant events for 2020 had to be cancelled to ensure public safety.
