KEITH Ashworth, of Conway Drive, Oswaldtwistle, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, November 30, aged 65 years.

After leaving school in 1971 he began as an engineering apprentice at Platts in Accrington, working in the tool room.

He then moved to Henry Livesey’s in Blackburn and eventually ran the drawing office.

He later moved to the UK Atomic Energy Authority in Warrington, training apprentices.

In 1993, he graduated from Salford University with a BSc Engineering degree and then trained as a teacher at Edge Hill University.

At the age of 39 he was appointed as a teacher for Technology and Engineering at Pleckgate High School, Blackburn, where he enjoyed 20 happy and successful years and was hugely popular with both students and staff alike.

In 2000, he founded the Haslingden and District Coarse Fishing Club and was Chairman from 2000, until the present time.

He was also a member of the Broadfield Angling Association, as well as the Haslingden Bowling Club and St Paul’s C of E

Church in Oswaldtwistle.

In his spare time, he loved going coarse fishing, where he won over 60 matches. He has fished in waters both in the UK and throughout Europe, but his first love would always be his beloved Holden Wood Reservoir.

He also played Crown Green Bowling in the A & B teams, at Haslingden Bowling Club, often bowling alongside his dad Jack where he once represented Rossendale in a competition in Bocholt, Germany.

Keith also enjoyed watching sports and was a lifetime Blackburn Rovers fan.

He was also a prolific card player too, especially cribbage, a game that he taught many to play, and a talented sequence and ballroom dancer.

Keith also loved dining out, where fish and chips were his speciality, but most of all his favourite past time was spending time with his loving wife, children and friends.

Over the years he has enjoyed many holidays with them, venturing both abroad and around the UK.

A devoted husband of Alison, an adored father of Victoria and Nathanael, a much loved father-in-law of Callum, a dear brother-in-law of Karen, a cherished son of the late Jack and Edna, a dear son-in-law of the late Renee, also an incredibly loyal and much loved friend to many.

Keith will be very sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

The family have requested a private family only funeral service (due to the current restrictions).

Anyone is welcome to watch the service online via the live webcast.
