HENRY ‘HARRY’ BENTLEY

ON Wednesday,

December 2, peacefully in a private nursing home, ‘Fortified By The Rites Of Holy Mother Church’, Harry, aged 74, of Accrington.

The dearly loved son of the late Nora and Henry Bentley, twin brother of the late Fred, brother of the late Michael, also a dear brother-in-law and uncle.

Due to current restrictio­ns a private funeral service will be held with Requiem Mass at St Anne’s RC Church, Accrington.

Harry will then be laid to rest in the family grave at Accrington Cemetery.

Harry was a regular attendee at Mass in the Sacred Heart Church, Accrington and also served behind the bar at the social club where he enjoyed the company of others.

Harry also enjoyed watching sport, particular­ly cricket, and had played for Church & Oswaldtwis­tle Cricket

Club in his younger years.

His family were well known in Accrington and Harry was a familiar face

Harry was well known in Ossy for his wonderful singing voice and always gave a song in the local clubs. He also liked his Saturday nights at Ossy Con. He was also a Manchester United fan and used to be a member of the Irish League and the Royal British Legion. He loved his holidays abroad in Spain, especially Majorca, as well as Malta and Italy, and in more recent years enjoyed going to Blackpool.

A dearly loved husband of 68 years of Joan, a much loved father of Lynn and Stephen, a dear father-inlaw of Bob and Dawn, a treasured grandad of Mark, Lindsay, Rachel, Sarah, Stephanie, Hannah and the late Daniel, and a cherished great-grandad to Beth, Oliver, Dan, Connor and Ava. Harry will be very sadly missed by all his family and everyone who knew him.

His funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, December 14 at Accrington Crematoriu­m for family and close friends only (due to the current restrictio­ns).

Family flowers only please, but donations are being gratefully received in memory of Harry for the Royal British Legion Church & Oswaldtwis­tle Branch and can be made by phone, by post, or by envelope drop off at the funeral home (Accrington or Oswaldtwis­tle).
