Starting work on stand gives us glimmer of hope

-

LAST week saw a significant glimmer of hope on an otherwise bleak landscape as owner Andy Holt announced the commencement of works on the Jack Barrett stand.

The project will provide much needed new lounge and bar facilities for both hospitality and the Stanley faithful, as well as the required office space and new changing rooms.

These will be a welcome addition to the facilities at the Wham Stadium as the challenge of attracting fans back to the stadium looms once the lockdown restrictions are finally eased. Whilst this is not likely any day soon it will be difficult to envisage home gates to resume immediately to pre Covid levels and we will need to build up our fanbase again.

The works will be starting imminently and are scheduled to take around 10 months for completion.

Our new Club1968 draw is proving an instant hit with supporters, with over

250 already signed up to the monthly draw.

For just £10 a month there is a chance of scooping the £1,000 monthly top prize or one of the other five prizes worth another £500. This runs alongside the club’s existing Gold Bond draw and provides local winners, with all monies being used to develop fans’ facilities at our football club. Further details are available on the www.onstanleyon. com Trust website.

The football family in Accrington, the club, the supporters and the community trust have pledged to support the work of Maundy Relief in 2021. We are committing to quarterly foodbank collections, each a week duration, utilising the Market Hall shop, the new Sports Hub and the football club as collection points. We are also supporting the charity with our volunteers helping deliver food parcels locally when required.
