STANLEY completed the loan signing of midfielder Adam Phillips from Burnley until the end of the season on Monday.

Phillips has spent the first five months of the season on loan at Morecambe, with the 23-year-old having scored 10 goals and provided seven assists during that time.

The midfielder came through the youth system at Liverpool, before signing a two-year contract with Norwich City in July 2017.

He spent two years with The Canaries prior to departing Norfolk to sign a one-year contract with

Burnley. Having joined Morecambe on loan in January 2020, the midfielder returned to the Mazuma Stadium for a second loan spell in August.

Manager John Coleman said: “He’s a good player, he’s done well in his loan spell for Morecambe and hopefully he’ll kick on for us. We are lacking goals from central midfield and he has an eye for goal, he gives us an attacking option from midfield as well as Sean McConville, Matt Butcher and Jon Russell.

“I don’t think we’ve had as many goals from midfield that I’d like, we’ve only had five or six and I’m looking for us to score more.”

Phillips said: “I am delighted to be here, it’s a great opportunity for me and I can’t wait to meet all the lads and can’t wait to get going.

“I like to get in the box, get on end of crosses and I like to get back and help the team out. I always give 100 per cent and I like to take risks with passing.

“I enjoyed my time at Morecambe, it’s been a great season for me so far. I have scored goals and played lots of minutes and that’s what I wanted to do.

“This is a step up and I am looking forward to it, to playing in this league and the challenge ahead.”
