Great-grandad dies days after road collision
AGREAT-GRANDAD has died four days after being badly injured in a road collision in Accrington.
Dennis Guilfoyle, 85, from Great Harwood, was involved in a collision with a Jaguar car at the Eastgate and Burnley Road junction.
He suffered serious head and pelvic injuries and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital, but sadly died on Sunday, February 14.
No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
THE family of a man who has died following a collision in Accrington have paid tribute to him.
Dennis Guilfoyle, 85, from Great Harwood, sadly died on Sunday.
Police were called on Wednesday morning, February 10 to a report of a collision between a Jaguar car and a pedestrian at the Eastgate and Burnley Road junction.
The pedestrian, Mr Guilfoyle, suffered serious head and pelvic injuries and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital, but sadly later died. No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
Sgt Lee Harris, of Lancashire Police’s Tactical Operations, said: “These are tragic circumstances and my thoughts are with Mr Guilfoyle’s family at this time. We continue to appeal for information and urge any witnesses, who saw what happened and have yet to speak to police, to come forward.”
In a tribute, Mr Guilfoyle’s family said: “Dennis was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be sorely missed.
“We want to thank everyone who has been in touch for their kind words and messages.
