Coun June Harrison

Mayor of Hyndburn

-

IT is fantastic to see the roll out of the COVID-19 Vaccination in Hyndburn and I am very pleased to have been given my first dose too.

To everyone who has said yes when they have been invited for an appointment, thank you.

It is our route to recovery.

I would also like to thank all of those who are involved in the vaccination roll out.

Thousands of people from Hyndburn have been to our fabulous Acorn Centre and many more are going to other centres as they open too.

It is exceptionally well organised, and it was a pleasure to visit.

There does continue to be a small group of people taking advantage of people’s desire to get the vaccination.

There have been reports of scams being received by email, text message and phone where people are asked to pay a fee for their vaccination.

Please remember, it will always be free, never give your card details to anyone and stay vigilant.

Let your relatives and friends know, especially if they are elderly or vulnerable.

By sharing this message we can stop people being victims of this fraud.

Recently Hyndburn also received some very welcome news.

Our bid for the Community Champions Fund from The Government was successful and we were awarded almost

£500,000.

The money has been allocated to help Hyndburn deliver Covid-19 safety information and promote wellbeing to those in our community who are the most vulnerable.

I am really looking forward to seeing this and know it will make a real difference to many.

Thank you to

Hyndburn council staff for working so hard to pull everything together to help businesses and residents during such uncertain times.

There is support available for anyone struggling, our Hyndburn Hub is very much active, and they can assist if you need essential supplies or help.

Please do get in touch with them if you need their services by emailing enquiries@hyndburnbc. gov.uk or call 02154 388 111.

It is really important we all stick together and keep in contact, even though we cannot see many of our friends and family in person.

Please pick up the phone and check on your loved ones whilst we are staying home to keep others safe.
