Invite to charity park trek

Honour loved ones

- Ian Bunting

Lanarkshire- based charity F FAMS (Families and Friends Affected by Murder and Suicide) are inviting members of the public to their pioneering event, Let’s Walk About Suicide (LWAS).

The group’s aim is to encourage people of all ages to come out and walk around Strathclyde Park on Sunday, September 11, at 5pm in memory of loved ones or those affected by suicide or murder.

There is no registration fee or fundraising required to take part in the special event and those participating will be given ‘I’m walking for...’ material for anyone wishing to honour the name or photograph of a loved one by pinning it to clothing or on a memory wall.

Free activities for both children and adults will also be available on the day, including fun speed boat rides, a bouncy castle, face painting sessions and much more.

Meanwhile, FFAMS are also asking the public to design their new LWAS logo – with a family pass for the M& D’s theme park plus £100 spending money up for grabs – for the September 11 walking event.

The competition is open to everyone and all entries should be emailed to info@ ffams. org. uk before the closing date of Saturday, July 30.

The winning logo will then be unveiled at the LWAS launch event on Thursday, August 26.

For more information on any of the initiatives above, contact the FFAMS team by phone on 01698 717424 or visit www.ffams.org.uk
