CHARITY EFFORT Kind Kenzie is a cut above the rest

Sponsored haircut raises over £700 for great cause

- Ian Bunting

A generous Bargeddie youngster bid farewell to her lovely long locks to help sick children.

Thoughtful Kenzie Hunter saw her beautiful brunette hair cut for the first time in aid of the Little Princess Trust charity.

The little star was inspired to ask for her dramatic new look after seeing a YouTube video of someone having their hair cut to deliver to the charity.

Six-year-old Kenzie then told mum Diane that she wanted to do the same and help other kids who needed support.

The Little Princess Trust provides wigs and hair pieces for children across Britain and Ireland who suffer hair loss due to cancer treatment and 30 centimetres of Kenzie’s hair is now winging its way over to the organisation.

Kenzie joins celebrities including pop superstar Harry Styles in contributing to the charity’s ongoing campaign.

Caring Kenzie – a pupil at Bargeddie Primary School – was sponsored for her efforts and managed to raise over £700 with the help of her kind- hearted family and friends, with the cash also being donated to the Little Princess Trust.

Proud mum Diane told the Advertiser: “Kenzie was watching a video on YouTube of a woman getting her hair cut for the Little Princess Trust and then came and asked me if she could do it too.

“I told her she could and we then launched a sponsorship campaign and managed to collect over £ 700, for which we thank everyone who contributed.

“Kenzie got her hair cut at The Hub salon in Bargeddie and the staff there were absolutely brilliant with her.

“Kenzie was excited and nervy as she had waited to get her hair cut for weeks, but she was fine when she got into the chair.”

Young Kenzie was very taken with her new, shorter hair look, as Diane explained: “Kenzie has always had long hair and this was her first main haircut ever. She got 30 centimetres taken off, so it was quite a length to lose.

“Having her hair shorter was a big change for her, but thankfully she really loves her new look.

“She is constantly walking about flicking her hair and keeps brushing it and smiling when she looks in the mirror.

“We are so proud of her for all she has done, especially considering it was her own idea.

“She is a very thoughtful wee girl and it’s lovely to think that what she’s done will benefit sick children living throughout the British Isles.”

This year’s marks the tenth anniversary of the formation of the Little Princess Trust, with the organisation relying solely on the efforts of enthusiastic community fundraisers like Kenzie as its receives no formal funding.
