Figures recently released have revealed the average UK household is still spending £1066 on their annual energy costs and the bureau’s team of staff are on hand to help people concerned by what they are having to pay out.

A spokesperson for the bureau said: “Our advice is for those having problems with their energy supplier or worrying about their bills.

“We can also offer support to anyone thinking of getting a better deal for their energy supply, wanting to find out what help is available from the government and looking to reduce their energy costs.

“Residents looking for this advice can come along to one of our outreach surgeries held across Airdrie each week, and speak to our staff.”

The bureau’s outreach surgeries get off and running on Mondays at Monklands Hospital, alternating between full and half days each week.

Further surgeries take place on Tuesdays at Plains community centre from 10am until noon and Caldercruix community centre from 1pm to 3pm (except the fourth Tuesday of the month).

Wednesdays see a meeting held in Salsburgh community centre from 10am until noon.
