Social club Activities this week include Sunday night bingo, with tickets on sale from 8pm and eyes down at 8.30pm. The Lucky Joker draw has stopped for the summer break and will start back on Sunday, July 31. For further informatio­n on the above see the club notice board.

Back Brae Gospel Hall The Sunday school sessions run from 2.30pm to 3.15pm. The breaking of the bread takes place on Sundays at 11am.

The evening gospel meeting is held at 6.30pm every Sunday, except the last Sunday of the month when the service runs from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. A prayer and Bible reading is also held every Wednesday from 7.30pm to 9pm. Stanrigg Miners’ Disaster Memorial is open to all who want to visit, with transport to get up to the site available. Applicatio­ns to the miners’ holiday home in Couris, Fife, for miners, their beneficiar­ies and families are now available, with the home open from now until August; call 01383 880307 to register an interest in visiting. Toddlers’ football has now closed for the summer period and will resume after the schools holidays have concluded. Councillor­s’ surgeries Councillor Sophia Coyle won’t be holding any surgeries in the village this month. Anyone who needs to speak with Ms Coyle can call members’ services on 01698 302664. Councillor Andrew Spowart’s next surgery takes place on Thursday, July 28, in the community hall. Marching band Baillies Lane Flute Band has stopped until August. When it resumes, the group will welcome new members to attend learner classes on Sundays from 2pm to 4pm or band practice on Tuesdays in the social club from 7pm to 9pm.
