ALBION ROVERS...............1 CLYDE...............2 Rovers suffer late penalty heartbreak

-

Dylan Easton’s penalty winner left Albion Rovers heartbroken in the Betfred Cup last Tuesday night.

The Bully Wee midfielder made no mistake after referee Gavin Ross ruled that he had been brought down in the box by Mark Ferry.

Rovers had taken the lead through Ross Davidson but Ewan McNeil equalised before the spot-kick drama.

Cliftonhill player/manager Darren Young said:“I felt we were the better team and we had the better chances.

“We were probably unlucky not to be in front at half-time. We lost a poor goal although it was a great strike from the boy. He hit it and it stayed hit.

“The players are saying it was never a penalty. Mark is saying that he never touched him.

“I think you can see that from the reaction of our players. Six of them went over to the referee straight away and that’s a bit of a giveaway.” ALBION ROVERS: Stewart; Reid, R Dunlop, M Dunlop, Turnbull; Fisher, Davidson, Ferry; Willis, Ferguson (Stewart 65), Wallace.
