Pete to share his love of music with pop-up shop

Coatbridge rocker opens music shop in his own town

- Ian Bunting

Coatbridge rocker Pete MacLeod is offering music fans the chance to get their hands on some top tunes after opening a pop- up music shop in his home town.

For a limited time, Pete will be selling his own albums and others from a “wide range” of artists – and signing autographs – at Stepping Stone Music.

The shop, named after Pete’s new record label, is based at the Boundary Shopping Village on Locks Street and will be open from Thursday to Sunday between 10am and 5pm.

Kirkwood native Pete decided to enter the world of retail to share his love of music with others in Coatbridge.

He told the Advertiser: “I think as you go through the process of making albums, you are fortunate enough to appreciate the process of everything whilst doing so, including starting a label and releasing the work.

“I just felt it would be good to offer music lovers like myself in my home town – and across the board– a place to actually walk into and have a look at some finds and have a more human interaction as opposed to ordering music online.

“I feel a massive part of music is the connection people can have over similar tastes in music and appreciation.

“Many people in my home town may know that I’m a musician but I’m sure there will be more who don’t know who I am.

“I’m hoping that this is another way to connect with locals and with a more human touch with no computers or phones involved.”

Stepping Stone Music is selling CDs and vinyl versions of a large selection of albums by artists from across the globe, including Pete’s own EPs Rolling Stone and Crestfallen.

Pete added: “I am very happy to sign copies of my albums for anyone.

“Coatbridge, Airdrie and Lanarkshire have a lot of music fans and I’d like to think that I have that in common with everyone too.

“It will be good to meet friends, both old and new, and music helps people like me communicate with others.

“I’ve already met some new friends at the Boundary Shopping Village and there are some amazing characters who have been working there for a couple of years.

“I haven’t set a time scale on how long Stepping Stone Music will be open for, but it will be for a limited period so hopefully as many people as possible come along while the shop is open.”
