Mourners’ tributes to kind nurse Alison

Mum of two is laid to rest after accidental fall

- Colin Paterson

Hundreds of mourners turned out to say goodbye to tragic Airdrie nurse Alison Clark yesterday.

The mum-of-two was laid to rest after a packed service at McLaren’s funeral directors in her home town.

Alison died following an accidental fall at her Arran View home on Saturday, September 10.

Patrick Rolink was a friend of Alison and acted as a pall bearer at her funeral.

He said: “Alison was a wonderful person. A loving mum and a dedicated nurse. Her untimely death is a tragedy for everyone who knew her but particularly for her two daughters.

“The huge turnout at her funeral is testament to the esteem in which Alison was held.”

Airdrie & Shotts SNP MSP Alex Neil was among the mourners paying their respects at the service for the Monklands Hospital trauma nurse.

He said: “She was a lovely person and a truly dedicated nurse.

“Nobody cared more for the health service than Alison did. I cannot speak highly enough of Alison.

“Her death is a real tragedy for all of us. It is so hard to believe that she has gone. I send my condolences to her family and especially to her two children.”

It was standing-room only with some mourners listening to the service outside.

A message within the Order of Service read: “Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day.

“Unseen, unheard but always near. Still loved, still missed and very dear.”

In a statement issued to the Advertiser last week, the nurse’s family, including daughters Megan, 17, and Alix, 11, said Alison had brought “much joy, happiness and fun.”

It continued: “She was so full of love and her passing leaves a massive hole in the lives of so many people.”

A Go Fund Me page set up to assist Alison’s daughters had raised almost £900 by yesterday afternoon.
