The day singer Jean teamed up with Yoko Ono and the Soup Dragons

A Coatbridge woman features alongside several world-renowned names on a new solo album by former Soup Dragons frontman Sean Dickson.

Jean McClure, who performs under the name of Jean Honeymoon, sings with Sean on his album FT, which was released last Friday.

She is one of many who have lent their talents to Hifi Sean, including Yoko Ono, Fred Schneider of‘The B-52s and Norman Blake from Teenage Fanclub.

Jean, 50, told the Advertiser of her excitement at being part of the project.

She said:“This is a very exciting time for me.

“In terms of music, I’m the only person who features on the album who isn’t high profile so it’s good for me to help get my music out there.

“There’s already a bit of a buzz around the album and I think it’ll do well.

“The artists who feature on it had large success in the 80s and 90s so people will be interested in hearing how they are sounding now.”

Jean met Sean in 1984 when she was a member of The Honeymooners, and explained how she came to be involved in FT.

The mum-of-two went on:“I feature on the song Monday Morning Sunshine. It’s a warm, uplifting track.

“Sean wrote to me and told me he was writing an album where the concept was to work with vocalists he’s always admired.

“I told him that I was on board and he sent me the music for the track to which I penned vocals and a melody.

“The music he sent was sublime and I’m really happy with how it was produced as it really suits my vocals.

“Sean has an ability to understand his artists so the music was perfect.

“It’s incredible to be a part of the album.”

Jean hopes featuring on the album can perhaps open new doors.

And it has already brought her a whole host of new , some pretty famous, friends.

She added:“I didn’t get the opportunity to meet any of the singers who featured but I’ve become friends with them on social media which is good as they now know me.

“I do perform occasionally but my job is as a recording artist.”

Jean can’t wait to see the album doing well and added:“I’m really looking forward to seeing what happens next.”

FT is available to download on all platforms and can be purchased on CD or vinyl.
